Hillview Art – Open Studio will once again be taking place this year. Dates for your diary are:

Saturday 11th – Monday 27th August [opening times 10.30 – 5.30 pm, Bank Hol. 27th 4.30pm]

and Saturday 10th – 11th November [opening times 10.30 – 4 pm] for our Festive weekend.

This summer we shall be featuring the work of seven artists with two newcomers: Sandie Roche, a hand woven textile designer and Young-Joo Shin, a contemporary painter originally from Korea, now living in Burley. These will show alongside myself [ceramics, glass, painting], Geoff Knott [wood turning], Amy Lancaster [metal menagerie], Jeanie Robinson [beaded jewellery] and Judy Warbey [artist’s books, painting, print].

In the afternoons demonstrations will take place; Geoff Knott will show his expert wood turning skills using locally sourced woods. In addition fused glass and beaded jewellery will be underway and of course there is every opportunity to talk about 2 and 3 dimensional art. Enjoy a cup of tea/coffee, cake and a natter. We pride ourselves on the warm welcome that we extend to people.

Other news:

2018 has already proven a very busy year for my work: pieces were accepted for both the Southampton City Art Gallery Open and the St Barbe, Lymington, Open exhibitions.

Group 94, a group of artists who meet regularly at Greyfriars in Ringwood were given the opportunity to show work in the Main gallery at the Red House in Christchurch during March/April. ‘First Edition’ featured hanging glass panels only very recently completed and paintings.
With Southern Contemporaries, painting and glass went into the Shaftesbury Art gallery in April.

I have just returned from hanging work for Bournemouth Arts Club, in the Mulberry Room, Shelley Theatre Trust, Boscombe, where I produced pieces related directly to the mulberry tree which can be viewed from the exhibition space. Artists in Conversation’ takes place on Tuesday 15th May, 1.30 – 3.30 pm. The work can be viewed until the 5th June.

‘A Natural Celebration’ with Southern Contemporaries will take place for the month of July at Kingcombe Wildlife Trust, Toller Porcorum, nr. Dorchester. I aim to focus on 3 dimensional pieces for this exhibition.

Two further exhibitions will occur later in the year.

Sadly ‘Rums Eg’, in Romsey, which was a major gallery space, closed its doors to the public in April. This was a huge blow to the community and of course to all the exhibiting artists.

My work can be seen at the Salt Marsh Gallery, Lymington, an intimate space which exhibits a wide range of media.

Hillview Open Studios, held in the summer, is always a great success. Below are some glimpses of previously exhibited work.
